Now that I have finished the book Living Beyond the Dream, I took time to recap some of the most valuable lessons Jarrod Polson shared. The main ones to me are never take your life for granted, put others before yourself, and always pursue your dreams. It seems that following these three ideas may help many individuals live a happy and fulfilling life. Like I spoke about in my last blog post, many individuals are not thankful for what they have and believe they live difficult lives. If these people just took a minute to think about all the positive aspects of their life, they would realize how truly blessed they are. For most people, when they put other individuals lives before their own, they will feel good with themselves. Everyone loves to receive gifts and get new things, but like Jarrod Polson experienced, this feeling does not compare to how you will feel about helping and giving to the less fortunate. The feeling of making someone else happy will also make you feel content with yourself. Lastly, if an individual has a dream in life, they should pursue it to the best of their ability. Doing what you love will make you happier than having a higher paid job that you hate. If everyone followed these three key things in life, it seems that the world would be a much more positive place.
Do you agree these three ideas are important to follow and what other things would help a person be happy?
Reflection
This was an enjoyable book to read because Polson not only talks about basketball, but also experiences in his life that many can relate to. I mostly read my book in a quiet room which allowed me to focus and think about the lessons Polson talks about. I would recommend this book to people who are into sports or are trying to accomplish a goal, as its ideas can be used in everyday life.
